TIMBER
ROOF FRAME INSTALLATION
Grimsby
First, I ensured that the wall plates were level and firmly secured to the load-bearing walls. Then, I marked the positions of the trusses on both wall plates.
Next, I used a crane to lift the initial truss onto the roof in a vertical position. I positioned it so that it aligned with the end of the rafter diagonal bracing once installed. Following the temporary works plan, I braced the first truss securely to both wall plates using the appropriate size of bracing and fasteners.
After positioning and securing the second truss, ensuring alignment with the first truss, I installed the third truss towards the gable end, maintaining correct orientation. All trusses were braced vertically and horizontally to form a stable unit. Permanent diagonal braces were affixed to the rafters, meeting specifications, and all remaining longitudinal bracing was installed on both sides of the roof.
Service Next, I installed permanent diagonal braces at a 45-degree angle on the inner face of the rafters, ensuring they met specifications for size and quality. Each truss was securely fastened with appropriate nails. Following this, I proceeded to fix all remaining longitudinal bracing to rafters, struts, and ceiling ties, ensuring duplication on both sides of the roof. With the completion of bracing, temporary bracing was removed to facilitate the installation of any remaining trusses. Finally, all specified longitudinal, diagonal, and chevron bracing, along with metal restraining straps, were fixed to the gable end.
